I was so pleased to receive the below invitation to this event coming up in April from Roy Textor who runs DCUG (Deutschsprachige Citrix User Group / German-speaking Citrix User Group). It’s nearly two years since I blogged about the birth of this group, you can read that here. In the time since then Roy has run dozens of user group meetings all over Germany (I’d love you to comment on this blog if you have attended) and the community is going from strength to strength.
In April, NVIDIA’s own Thomas Remmlinger will be attending and involved in a special session on HDX 3D Pro and NVIDIA GRID. I work in the same solution architecture team as Thomas and he has a wealth of experience from his time at Citrix and now NVIDIA working with these technologies.
If you can’t make it I’d recommend signing up for the groups email list to hear about other events. Roy travels all over not only Germany but Austria and Switzerland to help make these events accessible and low-cost on time and travel for attendees.
Roy and Thomas should make for an awesome event, details below. Only this week Thomas was here in the UK involved in a deep-dive partner day and it was great to absorb his experience and technical advice.

am 18.04.2016 lädt die textor IT zusammen mit der DB Systel GmbH und der Centracon AG zum DCUG – Roundtable in Frankfurt/Main von 09:30 bis 18:30 Uhr ein.
Bei diesem Roundtable dreht sich alles um HDX 3D Pro / Virtualisierung grafikintensiver Anwendungen.
Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit waren CAD-Applikationen noch „Killeranwendung“ in Citrixumgebungen. Eine performante Darstellung von 3D-Modellen inkl. Zooming, Animationen und Übergängen war nahezu unmöglich. Mit der Virtualisierbarkeit von Grafikkarten von NVIDIA sowohl für XenDesktop als auch für XenApp eröffnen sich hier ungeahnte Anwendungsmöglichkeiten. Remote Grafikverarbeitung etabliert sich immer mehr als Standard in Citrixumgebungen. Wegen der großen Nachfrage nach dieser Technologie veranstaltet die DCUG nun diesen Roundtable mit Focus HDX 3D Pro / Virtualisierung grafikintensiver Anwendungen.

Although I have not had the opportunity of attending the DCUG-meetings, I did have the pleasure of attending the Nvidia Partner Day.
Meeting Thomas (and Rachel!) and to hear from their experiences and thoughts on where Nvidia’s GPU’s can add additional value, was a great opportunity for me. If the level of quality from the Partner Day and especially the aforementioned experts, is by any means an indicator of things to come, I will not be hesitating to seize any given opportunity to attend coming events.

Roy hat unglaublich viel fuer DCUG getan und die Anerkennung seiner Rolle dabei kann kaum genug gelobt werden! Fuer mich waere die Reise leider etwas lang und teuer, aber ich werde im Geist dort sein und bin eigentlich etwas neidisch auf diejenigen, die doch dabei teilnehmen werden koennen! Vor allem ist es wirklich wahr, dass die Zeit der GPU-Grafik aktuell ist. Sie ist nun relevant fuer allerlei Anwendungen und nicht bloss fuer die kompliziertesten CAD/CAM-Darstellungen.
Es geschieht heuer viel auf diesem Gebiet und da diese Veranstaltung nach dem GTC stattfindet, wird es moeglich sein, allerlei Themen zu bespraechen, die derziet nicht diskutiert werden duerfen! Pass auf, die Zukunft wird auf diesem Gebiet rasch entwickeln…
